Hello!
Even though it's been ridiculously hot, September has been a good month of learning and fun at NLIS. All the students and teachers enjoyed the camp literacy day; the elementary students loved the firemen coming to the school and teaching them how to put out a fire, and many parents enjoyed coming on the observation day. I heard a lot of great comments about the classroom teaching and the students. NLIS is blessed with great teachers, students, and parents.
Our heartfelt thanks to all parents for their invaluable contribution to our children's safety in the parking lot. Your efforts are making a significant difference. If you need to make any changes, please ensure to find a parent to exchange it with and mark it on the list in the front entrance.
WASC Update: The teachers are almost finished researching and analyzing school data for the Western Association of Colleges and Schools report. At least three Coordinators will come to New Life International School from February 24 through the 28th. The goal is to obtain full accreditation for all grades 1 through 12. I will write more about this as it gets closer.
We have many learning and fun, motivating activities planned for October. Please see the calendar below.
Best Regards,
Suzy Brown

· Pizza & Pop Day (pop is a word for soda drinks) Students will need ¥600 for pizza and soda pop. They won’t need an obento on this day.
· Anime Day – Students will dress like their favorite anime character, but nothing scary or inappropriate, please.
· Random Acts of Kindness Day – Students and teachers will sneak compliments in lockers and desks all day to each other.
Nov. 1 F Fall Party and Vocabulary Parade – All students and teachers (and the principal) in the school, grades 1 through 12, will participate in this day’s events.
What is a “Vocabulary Parade?” A Vocabulary Parade is where everyone designs a costume that visually shows a vocabulary word that each student (and teacher) has selected. We will meet in the auditorium, and the classes will “parade” in the front. They should write the word and the definition of the word. Please see the examples below. Parents are also invited on this day, too. We will meet at 9:05 for an assembly upstairs.
