Dear Parents,
I am both proud and sad to announce that Shuto Ookubo, in 3rd grade, is moving to Tokyo this
summer. I’m sad because he’s leaving us. We will miss this kind, gentle, smart boy. He recently
passed Eiken pre-2 level, and I hope he will continue to work on his English skills. He will need
them. However, I am proud because he is following his dream. He is going to train to be an
Olympic figure skating champion at Mao Rink, and his teacher will be the very famous Mao
Asada! Ms. Asada is opening an academy in August, and she will personally train ten students,
ages 5 to 9, every day in her rink. After Shuto took a skills test and interview, both he and his
skating partner were chosen! They are moving to Tokyo to pursue their dream of being Olympic
skate winners. We will miss him, but we wish him well.
