Dear Parents:
School is almost out for the summer holidays. We are continuing to enjoy different activities. This week we had a lovely performance done by the 1st and 2nd grade classes, the 5th and 6th grade classes, and the Pop Choir in the secondary classes. There are a few more songs to post from the pop choir which will be done this week. Please look at the school’s Facebook site and the school’s Youtube site.
All classes are testing with easyCBM standardized curriculum tests this week. It is the 4th test of the year.
Monday, July 18, is “Sea Day.” It is a national holiday and school will not meet.
Tuesday, classes meet as normal.
Wednesday, July 20, is the school’s annual summer party! Teachers and students rotate in 3 groups, one at the park to play with water guns, one in the front to play with water balloons and eat ice pops, and one in the gym to have balloon relays. It’s a glorious time of water fun and celebrating summer! The students and teachers will get wet. Please have your child bring a towel and a change of clothes. Students will be separated in genders and age in different classrooms to change after the fun.
Students will receive summer homework on Wednesday. Every class is different. Please see the homework policy of NLIS below this letter.
Wednesday is a half day and school will be closed at noon. No lunch is needed on Wednesday.
There are a few spaces left for summer school. NLIS students get a discount of 4000 yen, so the price is 26,000 yen. The dates are July 25 through the 29, 9 am to 3 pm. The theme is “space.” We will study the moon, the solar system, rockets, and the galaxy. We will do reading and math activities and games, do science experiments and crafts, watch 2 movies with the space theme with snacks provided from Monday through Thursday, play every day with parachutes, water guns, water balloons, basketball, and other games, have Minute-to-Win-It games, and much more! Please contact the office soon if you are interested in your child joining.
I wish you a restful summer break and look forward to seeing everyone return for a full day on Thursday, September 1.
God bless you,
Suzy Brown
Principal
