Dear NLIS Families,
As we look back on June, we are thankful for another wonderful month filled with learning,
growth, and memorable experiences. As summer approaches, we also have many exciting
events to look forward to before we begin our holiday break!
Looking Back at June
Personal Safety Week
One of the highlights of June was Personal Safety Week, when our friends from Zoe visited
our school. Through engaging presentations, students and parents learned important
strategies for recognizing unsafe situations and protecting themselves. Although some of the
statistics were sobering, we are grateful for the practical tools and knowledge that were
shared.
JOY Bible Camp
Our students had a fantastic time at JOY Bible Camp! There were many opportunities for
spiritual growth, friendship, and outdoor adventure. One favorite memory was our junior
high students enjoying an exciting rafting trip!
Math Race Success!
Congratulations to the 11 winners of our Baseball Math Competition! We are proud of all
the students who challenged themselves to improve their math fact fluency. The winners
will be honored with a certificate and a big bag of candy on Friday, July 3, at the school
assembly.
The winners are: (in the order of when they won)
• Makino, Hiroto
• Okamoto, Eisei
• Tilwani, Naisha
• Ichiyose, Taiyo
• Yoshida, Hikari
• Hanai, Hidemi
• Panday, Avidan
• Jain, Kaavya
• Werner, Sebastian
• Koller, Gen
• Hashimoto, Shu
In the News!
We were honored to be featured in the Nichinichi Shimbun on June 17. The article
recognized New Life International School as the first school in Yamanashi Prefecture to
receive WASC accreditation, an important milestone for our school community.
Elementary Student Council
As we prepare for the opening of our new secondary campus this fall, we have established an Elementary Student Council. So now, NLIS will have two student councils, one for the elementary and one for the secondary.
Congratulations to our newly elected student leaders:
President: Avidan Pandey
Vice President: Miju Lee
Secretary: Hiroto Makino
Members: Hardik Tilwani, Hidemi Hanai, and Shouon Sai
We know these students will serve our elementary school with enthusiasm and integrity.

We had a great art fair! The students never disappoint! If you haven’t come to see the art,
please come this week. We will take the art down next Monday.

Science of Tomorrow Art Contest
This is an exciting opportunity for our students. We had one honorable winner a few years
ago, and she got her art and name mentioned in three newspapers, her picture displayed in
a museum in Tokyo with her name, and a huge certificate. All participants receive a gift, too!
Please encourage your child in grades 1 through 9 to think of an idea on how science could
help people in the future, then draw a picture of it. It must be on B3 paper. The instructions
are on Class Dojo, so please look at them. Please have your child bring the art to NLIS before
November 9. Do not roll it. The school will mail them together. The entries must be
postmarked by November 9. I hope we have many applicants!
Looking Ahead to Our New Secondary Campus
We are excited to celebrate an important milestone for New Life International School!
On August 31, from 9:15–9:45 AM we will have an Opening Ceremony in Asahi’s school
auditorium. Together we will celebrate the opening of our new Secondary School Campus in Shiobe with:
• Ribbon-cutting ceremony
• Special guest speaker
• Student representative
• Principal's address
A reporter from the Nichinichi Shimbun will also be joining us to cover this exciting event.
Following the ceremony, our secondary students will go to the new Shiobe campus for their
first classes. Parents and guests are warmly invited to visit the new campus afterward for a
brief tour and a cool drink.
We are incredibly thankful for God's faithfulness as He continues to grow New Life
International School.
