Being strong is not about beating people up. It is a about feeling good about yourself and also being able to respect others. Our style of karate is very safe and kid-friendly. The goal of this class is to help you develop a strong body and a caring heart, and we will not forget to have fun along the way.
About the Instructors:
Monday, 3:30 to 4:30 Riiku Ogihara
I have an official 3rd dan, qualified by Japan Karatedo Federation. I have been trained in karate since I was 3 years old at my father’s karate dojo, Yamanashi Seifukan. I have taught there for 15 years. I love teaching energetic young children. Mothers are also welcome to join! We have one adult attending now.
Thursday, 3:30 to 4:30 Erin Okuaki
I am Erin Okuaki. I have an official 3rd-dan, qualified by Japan Karatedo Federation. I have trained in karate since I was 3 years old at my father’s karate dojo, Yamanashi Seifukan. I got 8th place in the National Sports Festival in 1998. During my college years in Colorado, I was trained under Mr. Hideharu Igaki, a U.S. national coach at the time, and became a Colorado State champion in 2000. Currently, I am instructing children at the main dojo as well as at the New Life Karate Club.
Monthly fee: ¥1,000 per lesson (This will be calculated into a monthly fee each month.
No refund for non-attendance.
Please come to class in clothes that are easy to move around in. We usually practice karate barefoot, but the school gym is for outdoor shoes, so you may wear fitness shoes or beach shoes. Light ones are preferable.
Students in either class are eligible to take the grade test held twice a year by Seifukan. The grade tests are NOT mandatory. To take the tests, you must purchase a karate uniform.

At this time there are not any for Thursday, but there are several openings for Monday.
