Dear Parents,
The teachers and staff at NLIS are committed to providing your children with the highest quality education at the most reasonable cost. Due to global inflation, we request your understanding of a slight increase in the building fee starting in April 2025. The one-time annual building fee will increase by 5,000 yen to 65,000 yen; however, there will be no other tuition increases for the 2025-26 school year.
Here are some specific expenses that have increased this year, which have necessitated the fee increase:
·The iGradePlus system (the school digital and grade report) went from $565 to $895 this year.
·The WASC membership increased from $1940.00 to $2000.00, plus the visitation fee for February is $1060.00. Besides those fees, the school must pay for the transportation of three WASC coordinators (one from California, one from Thailand, and one from Kobe) and the hotel and food for all of them from February 24th through the 28th.
·NLIS must pay for all the textbooks and most fees in dollars. Due to the rise in the Yen-to-Dollar exchange rate this year, the cost of the books and membership fees has increased.
·CAJ (our affiliated school that helps us with advice, etc., in Tokyo) increased their annual fee from 40,000 to 50,000 yen.
